When the Memphis Roller Derby burst onto the scene, they needed a way to raise awareness, fund their growing league, and introduce the city to the grit, speed, and spectacle of roller derby. So we developed a pinup-style calendar celebrating the sport’s blend of beauty and brawn.
 

Inspired by classic Bettie Page pinups, the calendar featured real skaters striking vintage poses—airbrushed to perfection but still proudly wearing the bruises, scrapes, and battle scars of the game. The result was an unapologetic, memorable piece of work that drove awareness, raised funds, and solidified Memphis Roller Derby as a force to be reckoned with.
 

The calendar generated buzz across local press and social media and even inspired recreations by other leagues and fans. Its unique take on derby culture earned recognition from Communication Arts (Exhibit 2008) and Ads of the World.
